Trend: Colored Fur

Although I am not a fur advocate by any means (I prefer faux fur), I am liking the look of dyed fur. It adds a hippie vibe to something otherwise classic and feminine.

My favorite colors.

Favorite Colors

Navy blue, camel, black, gray, brown, white, and khaki green. By the way, that skirt is detachable from the leather jacket. Very 90's grunge and very practical.

The Search for the Perfect Watch

Favorite Watches

Personally, I believe a watch is a perfect accessory to any outfit. A watch is timeless, classic, and works for any gender. Lately I've been searching for the perfect watch to add to my minuscule collection. As if I didn't have enough shopping addictions. Well, watches are less expensive than shoes, right? No? Fine. Anyway, I've been particularly eyeing the Michael Kors runway watch. What are your favorites? I'd love to hear!

Where can I find one?!

Style Spotlight: Elly Jackson

I absolutely love style.com for having an interview with La Roux's Elly Jackson, combining my two loves, La Roux, an English pop band, and fashion. If you haven't heard of them, I suggest you listen to their music immediately and prepare for an ear-gasm. After seeing their "Bulletproof" music video, I admired Jackson's David Bowie-esque look. She makes a good point in this interview. Many women can imitate her look, but not many are brave enough to go for full frontal androgyny. Note the part where she talks about the Topshop mannequins imitating her orange coif. Priceless!

Style Spotlight: Beth Ditto

Now this may be improperly categorized, but there is something inspirational about Beth Ditto. For those of you who don't know, she an American singer-songwriter and front-woman for the band Gossip. Although I may not agree with all her fashion choices (sometimes I think she bares a little too much), she sure is fearless. Nor do we share a similar taste in clothing. To clarify, I do not take direct inspiration from what she necessarily chooses to wear, but how she wears it. She is one of the few women on the planet that does not let her size restrict her from wearing what she wants to wear. I believe that is a rare and beautiful quality to possess. Evidently, with her wild fashion sense, she does not give a damn, and wants you to know that. And you have to be doing something right if your allowed to be photographed (and even graced with his presence) with the creative director for Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, am I right?

Shopping Spotlight: Need Supply Co.

For anyone who has ever seen a fashion blog, I am sure you have heard of Need Supply Co., seeing as they advertise on nearly every one. I have browsed their selection before but never have I been so intrigued as I am now. They offer clothing, accessories, shoes (namely brands like Jeffrey Campbell and Dolce Vita), jewelry, and even nail polish (I have never heard of the brand RGB but they have some pretty sick colors). And I have never been a fan of the Jeffrey Campbell 99 boot until I saw it in Python!

Khaki & Clogs

Khaki & Clogs

Just playing around with Polyvore. Items I want: classic workday watch (with brown crocodile strap and a gold case), leather shorts, a Mulberry Bayswater bag, clogs, and a silk blouse. I like the addition of an ankle strap on the clogs, which solves the age-old problem of clogs slipping and sliding of one's feet. A practical twist to the clog trend.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 RTW

I love Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection's twist on the military trend. Shearling/buckles with straps looks pretty badass. Doesn't that brown fur coat remind you of a human teddy bear?

A Cheaper Alternative: Alexander Wang Brenda Zip Chain Bag

During a day at the mall, my roommate/shopping-partner-extraordinare (she's one of the few people on the planet who has as much shopping stamina as I) suggested we browse American Eagle. Nothing in particular caught my eye until I saw this bag and thought, "Could it be?!" At only $19.50, there lie a replica of Alexander Wang's Brenda bag. Lust at first sight. Although they sure aren't identical, I'd say close enough.

Sweat chic?

What do you think of the emerging sweatpants trend? Personally, I'm a big fan. By no means am I encouraging velour tracksuits a la Juicy Couture or (dare I say it) Ed Hardy (unless that's your thing, then by all means ignore the rest of this post). But these sweats are a nice sporty alternative to trousers. I'd even roll them up like Garance Dore. I'd even have them with green eggs and ham, Sam I am. Now tell me, would you wear it? I know I would.

Disney does fashion.

Elle Spain in their April 2010 edition did an article featuring the world's most renowned fashion designers as Disney characters. I think it's hilarious and cute. It features the likeness of Karl Lagerfeld (reminds me of the Lagerfeld teddy bear and doll; his likeness is sure fun to imitate), Marc Jacobs, Donatella Versace, and more. How clever! Being the huge fan of Disney that I am (Disney cartoons and movies were a staple of my childhood, which must make my mother go insane every time she hears the "Duck Tales" theme song), I was absolutely thrilled to find this article. There's even more at Miss at la Playa, a wonderful blog I subscribe to about fashion.

Shopping Spotlight: Queen's Wardrobe

Now I have yet another shopping sight to stalk. As if I don't have enough of those (I don't). They have very trendy items for decent prices. Nothing over $300, and shoes under $100! For a poor college student (ahem, me), these are great deals. I've been looking for a decent Chloe knock-off and those shoes are spot on. Check it out here!

Miu Miu Shoe DIY

I couldn't not post this DIY. I've been loving the new Miu Miu satin pumps with their cute little motifs. I only lusted after them and never realized it was possible to make them myself! Check it out here!

Monet-spiration

Being an artist, I figure a post or two about art wouldn't hurt. I mean, fashion is art, right? Looking at these paintings by Monet remind me of the florals commonly used for Spring. I find these bright colors so inspirational.

For those of you who don't know what bloglovin' is, it's a great website for following your favorite blogs. It reminds me of flipping through a virtual magazine, except you decide it's contents.

This is how I want to dress.

IRO really got it right. This is exactly how I want to dress this Spring/Summer. I want to fill my wardrobe with beige, army green, grey, and black. Don't you love how relaxed yet stylish these looks are? A skirt made of sweats for God's sake! I think it's pretty cool. And that leather jacket is perfection.
